RedBioLAC: Call for Student Exchanges

The initiative is the result of the network's main strategic axis: to share knowledge and bring together students to become the necessary generational succession for the development of the biogas sector in Latin America, as well as further promoting the RedBioLAC network.
A maximum grant of 1,250 USD is available per student and there will be two calls this year, with the first one closing on Tuesday 28 February 2017.

The booklet, entitled Oportunidades para el desarrollo de un sector sostenible de biodigestores de pequeña y mediana escala en LAC, contains technical information on biogas plants and their diffusion across the continent. It includes political background and successful case studies from Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia.

Handbook on Biogas Integration into Sustainable Farming Systems

Biogas generation through the anaerobic digestion of biomass has been carried out successfully in India and other parts of the world for decades. In this SEPS project, biogas was produced mainly from banana stem-waste at small rural banana plantations and then distributed to more than 70 households in the village of Gundigere for cooking purposes. The project has demonstrated that a biogas system can be based solely on stem waste from banana plantations, although the methane generation potential of these parts of the plant is much lower than that of fruit and peel.
IEI’s in-depth handbook offers potential users information on:
