2015 Annual Gathering of the Hydro Empowerment Network in Indonesia
News from WISIONS posted on December 16th, 2014
The annual gathering creates an important space for networking and knowledge sharing, enabling members to improve their own activities. The objectives of this year's gathering are to offer members the opportunity to network with each other in person, to formulate future activities based on the three existing knowledge exchanges and to develop possible forthcoming knowledge activities and tools.
More than 20 places are still available for the gathering. Members and non-members are welcome to apply for travel support. The Network's steering committee will select the organisations and individuals eligible for travel support through an evaluation of the applications and, if necessary, through further interviews.

Renewable energy and sustainable development in southern Africa
News from WISIONS posted on December 4th, 2014
Africa possesses a huge potential of renewable energy sources which has been widely neglected to date. Meanwhile, there is a significant interest in renewable energy sources in the related countries, especially because most of the population south of the Sahara still has no access to clean and affordable sources of energy. The lack of energy is one of the most hindering factors to the people of southern Africa, as there can be no development without access to reliable energy sources.
Renewable energy sources can play a decisive role in the creation of a more sustainable energy development, and may also prevent African countries from following the unsustainable, fossil fuel-driven progress of the industrial nations.
The presentation of the WISIONS team will take place at 18:00 CET on 9 December 2014 at the University of Bonn, Germany.
