The Argentinian Province Of Jujuy On The Path To Green Energy
News from WISIONS posted on January 14th, 2019
Recently, Fundación EcoAndina realised five training courses at their CEDIERA Centre and a number of guided visits to a technology park, with a total of nearly two hundred participants, mostly technical students from three renewable energy institutes in and around San Salvador. Furthermore, the project team hosted conferences and open dialogues at the National University, where a total number of 170 participants assisted.
Another highlight of the recent activities of this SEPS Exchange was the participation in the International Arts Festival Corazón Andino, an enchanting festival of arts and sustainability which took place for the first time in the Jujuy Province and raised awareness for renewable energy technologies among local citizens.
As a step to empower highland communities, EcoAndina visited the Municipalities of Humahuaca, Abra Pampa and La Quiaca and had talks with officials about the local situation concerning access to energy and to possible future renewable energy projects in the Andean highlands.
In order to transfer years of field experience from an NGO into the formation of academic curricula, EcoAndina organised coordination meetings with four institutes for technical formation in Jujuy: the official Institute for Renewable Energy in Jujuy, the National University of Jujuy, the National Secretary for Science and Technology, and others. National institutions, as well as regional and local authorities, recognise and value EcoAndina's work and invited them to contribute their experiences to an upcoming public discussion.
New Project: Biogas Solutions For Livestock Farmers in Costa Rica
News from WISIONS posted on January 9th, 2019
The Costa Rican Biogas Association (Asobiogás) and WISIONS will jointly coordinate this process, which integrates two work streams: the configuration and implementation of a SEPS knowledge exchange and the conceptualisation and realisation of a transdisciplinary transformative research approach. The collaborative process consists of six phases and continuously interweaves tasks and outputs of both the knowledge exchange and the research approach.
Some of the aspects that will be taken into consideration are:
- The identification of variables that influence the implementation and adoption of small and medium-scale biogas technology in Costa Rica
- Ensuring that substantial technical knowledge of biodigester technology is available to traditional providers of agricultural products and services in order that that they can offer biogas solutions as an alternative to other technologies and services
- Building awareness, interest and trust among small and medium-scale farmers in the benefits of biodigester technology
- Providing continuous support to all the parties involved in order to ensure robust consolidation of the sector
