Solar Kiosk: for the diffusion of sustainable food in urban areas
This innovative project promoted the
use of solar energy to street food vendors for food processing took place in Argentinian cities. The Solar Kiosk, a mobile food cart that works using solar energy for
cooking, was developed to improve the street food vendors' daily activities which are highly dependent on gas and coal for cooking. The project aimed to disseminate the solar kiosk technology and to introduce
solar energy as an alternative cooking fuel in urban areas, saving vendors
energy and money. Furthermore the CO2 emissions within the city could be reduced and the quality of the vendors'
food and their own health could be improved.
