Access to energy in rural Pakistan
Our SEPS project “Supporting creation and expansion of energy SMEs for sustaining access to energy and livelihood in mountainous areas of Kaghan, Pakistan“ has completed its third and final working phase.
The activities carried out over recent months mainly included preparations to ensure the long-term operation and maintenance of the newly constructed micro-hydro unit by a local SME, which was established in a previous project phase. The technology was regularly checked for reliability and whenever technical problems occurred, these were solved. Local technicians received training to enable them to maintain and repair the micro-hydro unit on an ongoing basis.
Following these steps, the project coordinators at T-PAK held three workshops and a number of community meetings to raise awareness among the local population and inform them about the project, the corresponding environmental issues and also about the WISIONS initiative.
