Participation by the WISIONS team at the IOREC and Asia Clean Energy Forum

From 16 – 20 June, the WISIONS team attended the International Off-Grid Renewable Energy Conference (IOREC, 16 – 17 June) and the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF 2014) in the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank in Manila, The Philippines.

The IOREC conference was an event that preceded the forum and was organised by IRENA, in cooperation with ADB and ARE. Over 400 Asian and global key stakeholders participated and attended the seven sessions that addressed different perspectives on how to improve access to modern energy in off-grid regions. Examples of promising business models were a particular topic for discussion.

During the three day ACEF 2014 event, a total of 1,500 participants from 90 countries came together to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the clean energy sector. Five thematic sessions were held (themes included Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Policy and Regulation) and these served to shed light on the current debate surrounding these issues.

In addition the newly introduced deep dive workshops allowed for participants to be more actively involved. All the presentations from throughout the week are available on the ACEF website (under “Agenda”).
