Upcoming RedbioLAC Webinar

News from WISIONS posted on May 14th, 2020

Our partnership network RedbioLAC announcend a webinar on "Biodigestor para tratamiento de aguas del procesamiento del café" (engl. Biodigester for coffee processing water treatment"). It will take place on 20 May at 8 a.m. CRC (Costa Rica Time), more information on the webinar can be found below including the link for registration. Register here now!Read moreMinimize

English version (spanish below)

The production of coffee is one of the main economic and agricultural cornerstones of South American economies and follows a long tradition in means of production and processes. But in particular this production has enormous environmental impact because of the intensive use of water during the production process, conseqently resultiung in high amounts of untreated wastewater. More than 80% of the coffee bean dissolves in the wastewater, which actually makes it a highly polluting crop for the environment. However, the opportunity to use this untreated wastewater has been considered by the speaker Osmer Ponce (Universidad Catolica de Honduras) as an highly promising source of anaerobic digestion and the following production of renewable energy in biodigestor technology. Register for the webinar and learn more about the potential of biodigestor technology in the coffee production processs! Please consider that the webinar will be hold in spanish language!

New project footage of Wind Empowerment in Argentina

News from WISIONS posted on May 5th, 2020

Our collaborative project partner Wind Empowerment recently published some video footage about their work in the rural areas of Argentina and it become quite apparent to see here: They had great joy in setting up their self-constructed wind-water turbines! Take a look for yourself, watch this informative video about small wind turbines and their impact on rural areas and learn more about our projects with Wind Empowerment!Wind Empowerment BlogRead moreMinimize
Video description by Wind Empowerment:
During 2019 we implemented the Project: “Improvement and diffusion of the water pumping system with wind energy and electronic control. Solutions for rural residents of the Patagonian steppe of Argentina.” The objective that we share between Fundación 500RPM and LCA-UNSL (Laboratory of Automatic Control of the National University of San Luis), is to develop a robust, effective, efficient and accessible pumping system for rural residents of Argentina and the world. The developed system consists of: a 350W Piggott wind turbine; a diaphragm pump (popularly known as a “toad pump”); an electronic system consisting of a small bicycle motor and an electronic board (this allows the system to be operated without the use of batteries).
